The 1st Student BIM&VR Design Contest on Cloud Services
-Compete on cloud using BIM and VR to design advanced construction and
civil engineering model!-
Welcome! This student competition utilizes Building Information Models
(BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology to aid in the design of an innovative
pedestrian bridge. Participate for your chance to win the $12,000 Grand
Prize!
Two pieces of software will be used and are provided to contestants for
free (for the duration of the competition): BIM software Allplan by Nemetschek and VR software UC-win/Road by Forum8.

Theme: Shibuya Bridge |
The concept for this competition is based on the design of Shibuya bridge-a
new way of imagining Tokyo's most famous intersection. The criteria includes
architectural design and visualization of a pedestrian bridge/deck in,
around, or above the context of this landmark.Participants must complete
the design with a wide range of technologies in architecture and civil
engineering, including the mandatory software packages UC-win/Road and
Allplan. Judging is performed on the basis of various design aspects including
architectural/landscape design, structural design, pedestrian/traffic control,
wind analysis, internal landscape evaluation with walk-though, and eco-friendly
design.
Possible design proposal: "The Symbol of Shibuya in 2050: an Interactive
Space for the Future of Tokyo's Famous Intersection." Design proposals should include not only the bridge and pedestrian deck
itself, but also the surrounding context and how the proposed intervention
engages the urban environment.

Submission Requirements |
[Required Data]
1. A script of VR data (UC-win/Road Ver.5.xx, Language : English only)
An animated script of VR data in UC-win/Road is required for the final
submission and it should be available for UC-win/Road for SaaS cloud server.
Multimedia materials including 2D/3D text, sound, and video should be integrated
with the VR script to help explain your concept. All project materials
should be in English.
2. A1 size poster (PDF, Language : English only)
The poster should articulate the concept of your design proposal. Be sure
to explain your integration of BIM/VR software throughout all stages of
your project, as well as any other technologies used.
* Each submission will be judged anonymously. Applicant names or
personal information should not appear anywhere on submitted
materials.
[Judging]
1. Contest submissions should be created using at least two different software
solutions from Forum8.UC-win/Road and Allplan are required. The judgment
criterion is based on BIM (Building Information Model) and VR (Virtual
Reality) technology. Final
submissions should be represented as UC-win/Road VR data.
2.An A1 size poster needs to be submitted as a supplement that thoroughly
explains your project. Judging is based on the originality, software application,
the extent of BIM and VR usage in the design stage, time taken, quality,
logic, and utilized techniques.
3.Excellent designs based on the theme "Shibuya Bridge" will
be selected by either "1. Total design with sensuousness and innovation"
or "2.Design techniques with uniqueness and novelty of structural
form".
4.Project submissions should contain an architectural city design component
that considers the urban context surrounding the Shibuya pedestrian bridge.
BIM/VR software should be used to design and present this aspect of the
project as well.
