Design of solar cell support structure
– Detail design by 3D skeleton structure analysis -
Next Energy & Resources Co., Ltd. |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® |
|
|
|
This work is a structure design for determination of material composition
and support structure of a ground-mounted solar power generation system.
As natural external forces, snow coverage and wind pressure act on the
module (solar panel), and the seismic force affects the support. For this
reason, the upper beam, the lower beam, and the column are influenced by
bending, pulling, and compressing stress, and it results in taking much
time to produce results due to more complex material behavior.
This study shows a development of a dedicated design software utilizing
the functions of the 3D FEM analysis software "Engineer's Studio®"
for reducing the time of value entry and result determination as much as
possible and improving work efficiency. As the characteristic of the software,
its structure calculation by the three dimensional skeleton analysis enables
to determine the safety and calculate more realistic material displacement,
section force, and deflection. |

Examination of consistency by full scale experiment and nonlinear
pushover analysis for PC-wall
- Review on applicability of fiber element and M-φ model -
Nippon Concrete Industries Co., Ltd. |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® |
|
|
|
A PC-wall is used as a self standing wall structure such as road retaining wall and river bank protection. Though nonlinear analysis design is not used for PC-wall consideration today, it may be necessary in the future. In this experiment, vertical loaded bending test in full scale experiment was carried out to confirm the consistency of PC-wall analysis model, then the test result was reproduced by the parametric pushover analysis (M-φ element and fiber element) with the 3D FEM analysis program Engineer's Studio®. The applicability of the analysis model was checked by comparing the both created data. |

Seismic performance evaluation of eight-continuous water gate
- Seismic verification design by the frame analysis of the specially structured
eight-continuous sluiceway -
CIVIC ARTS Consulting Inc. |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® |
|
|
|
This is a seismic resistant calculation of an extraordinary structure that
a eight-continuous sluiceway is constructed under carriageways and the
existing weirs and piers are additionally welded. After the examination
of both cases of considering and ignoring the wall effect by using the
3D FEM analysis software "Engineer's Studio", the continuous
structural model ignoring the wall effect was chosen. It was utilized for
the seismic diagnosis and the reinforcing design afterwards. |

Seismic performance check of hydraulic steel pipe for power generation
- Time history response analysis by frame model -
APPLIED TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® |
|
|
|
In hydroelectric power generation facilities, a water supply pipe that
lets water flow down from a reservoir to a water turbine for power generation
is an important equipment. If it breaks, serious damage such as flooding
in the downstream area is concerned.
This case is an evaluation of the seismic resistance performance of an
exposed water pressure iron pipe by using dynamic analysis. For the analysis,
pre-calculated acceleration waveform at each fixed base position is used
as an input condition. It was confirmed that the pipe satisfied the seismic
resistance performance, judging from the generated response values of the
pipe body and the joint. |

Strength test analysis by steel diaphragm wall method-II
- Consider an evaluation way of bending strength and rigidity by
analysis numeric experiment -
Japan Association of Diaphragm Wall |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® | |
|
|
This is construction methods of diaphragm wall that steel material NS-BOX
is embedded in the channel created by the drilling slurry excavation method
or the original position sand stirring method. The former is the steel
diaphragm wall method-I (concrete filled steel diaphragm wall method),
and the latter is the steel diaphragm wall method-II (soil cement steel
diaphragm wall method).
In this data, the numerical verification is carried out for the steel diaphragm
wall method-II, focusing on the impact by stud rigidity on the whole structure. |

Annual load calculation analysis of exterior
– Analysis for window system performance comparison -
Takenaka Corporation |
|
|
Program: DesignBuilder |
|
This is an analysis example of heat load to compare the performance of
a building exterior (double window). As for three types of window systems,
a model of single floor with windows at all four points of the compass
is created. Surface temperature, exhaust heat of the air flow, and heat
at the windows were calculated for 8760 hours a year by using the weather
data in order to compare each pattern. The Air Flow Window function and
the fine setting of blind angle in the DesignBuilderV5 were used. |

Analytical review on cracks in a lid of side ditch
- Study from the restrain value by using the FEM analysis on a side
ditch lid modeled with plate element -
Ahbo, Inc. |
|
|
Program: Engineer's Studio® |
|
A side ditch lid has a flat plate structure and lattice-shaped rebar. If
wheels go over the lid in an oblique direction to the grids rebar arrangement,
it is considered that cracks are easy to happen because the actual resisting
rebar arrangement has diagonal resistance against the sectional force at
the pulling side.
However, ultrahigh strong concrete without rebar could suppress the occurrence
of cracks because it equally resists in any direction.
Though normally the bar arrangement is determined by calculating with the
two direction version written on the concrete standard specification by
the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, this time, the FEM analysis by using
the plane element was carried out with the aim of obtaining the basic data
on the mechanism of load transmission and on the development of a most
suitable concrete lid product. |

Ground analysis of gas pipe displacement
-Analysis of the effect on gas pipes by vertical shaft excavation-
Wakasuzu Consultants Co., Ltd. Oita office |
|
|
Program: GeoFEAS 2D |
|
In the linear plate excavation plan of a vertical shaft at a inside diameter of 7.5 m and a depth of 41.0 m, the subsidence of the existing gas pipes according to the construction is concerned because they are embedded near the shaft. The vertical shaft is a cylindrical form, and the axisymmetric analysis was conducted around the centre axis first.
Then, the amount of the subsidence at the gas pipe position is calculated from the result in order to confirm that the value is within the allowable values. The stereoscopic effect can be reproduced by the axisymmetric model.
