FORUM8 has built and delivered "Large 4K VR Stereoscopic Driving Simulator"
and "VR NILIM System" for the National Institute for Land and Infrastructure
Management as the platforms to promote infrastructure DX

In June 2021, FORUM8 Co., Ltd.(2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President Yuji Ito. URL: https://www.forum8.co.jp/english/) has built and delivered "Large 4K VR Stereoscopic Driving Simulator" based on UC-win/Road and "VR NILIM System" where the entire site of the institute's Asahi office is reproduced in VR by using FORUM8 Virtual Platform System (F8VPS) for the National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (NILIM), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. These systems can be widely used not only for R&D to promote the infrastructure DX through public-private partnerships but also as platforms for planning and public relations.

As the entire MLIT is working on the promotion of infrastructure DX (Digital Transformation), the NILIM is building an environment that enables the exchange of large amounts of data without delay using ultra-high-speed communication infrastructure such as 5G and is making the "Construction DX Experimental Field" used for developing technologies of unmanned construction and automated construction and the "DX Center" where all 3D data is managed and analyzed. (From a press release issued by the MLIT on April 7th, 2021 https://www.mlit.go.jp/common/001398779.pdf)

As part of the DX related facilities, the FORUM8's "Large 4K VR Stereoscopic Driving Simulator" is placed in the ITS Research Center inside the institute and is able to be used for cross-sectional projects both inside and outside of the ministry, including traffic study and verification of infrastructure inspection technology by using BIM/CIM data, and development of remote control technology using VR and AR.

In addition, "VR NILIM System" operated by the F8VPS allows viewers to freely explore each section of the institute site and check the introductions of each experimental facility and videos of study results. The system can be used for various scenes as a planning and public relations platform to publicize the activities of the NILIM, including the virtual NILIM tour.

▲Large 4-screen stereoscopic display system provides driving simulation with the widest possible field of view and a feeling of immersion. The cabin is made up of actual automobile parts to reproduce a realistic driving environment.

▲Viewers can try driving simulation in the "VR NILIM" space where the entire site of the NILIM's Asahi office is reproduced by FORUM8 Virtual Platform System (F8VPS).

▲As a model case using BIM/CIM data, a 3D model of "VR NILIM" a model printed out with a 3D printer is exhibited.
